My name is Lily and I am in my second year at the University of Victoria in the Elementary B. Ed program. I am originally from Calgary Alberta, but I have spent nearly all of my summers out on the island in Port Alberni, because my grandparents used to own a cabin on Great Central Lake. Prior to Uvic, I spent one year at Camosun College to complete my pre-requisites to transfer into the Elementary Ed program at Uvic. I love my friends and family, baking, dancing, coffee, and am currently trying to teach myself how to cook.
Ever since my grandparents bought our old cabin on Great Central Lake, I fell in love with the island. Sadly, my grandparents sold our cabin this past summer which was a very sad goodbye, but I will always cherish all of the amazing memories and friendships I made there. My summers out on the island definitely influenced my decision to attend university here in Victoria.
When I was growing up, my mom made scrapbooks dedicated to each one of my siblings and I. It included pictures of us as newborns at the hospital, many of our “firsts”, and moments of our upbringing that felt important to document. These were only some of the scrapbooks my mom has created, and according to her whenever she was scrapbooking, all I wanted to be was included. She gave me a small photo book and some stickers, and I’d spend hours playing around with the few materials I was given. I have wanted to start a new hobby for awhile now, so I’ve decided to do my open inquiry project on scrapbooking! I believe this will be a fun way to document my scrapbooking journey, all while sharing resources with others.
